1) Efficacy, effect
contraception
2) Usage and dosage
1. How to take
The tablets should be taken in the order indicated on the package, at approximately the same time each day with water. Take 1 tablet per day for 21 days, take a break for 7 days, then start a new package. Withdrawal bleeding usually occurs during the 7-day washout period, usually starting 2-3 days after taking the last tablet, and may not end before starting a new package.
2. How to start taking
1) If you have not used hormonal contraceptives in the past month
Taking the tablets should be started on the first day of a woman's natural cycle (i.e., the first day of menstruation). It can be started on days 2-5, but during the first cycle, a barrier method of contraception (e.g. condoms) should be used for the first 7 days of taking the tablets.
2) In the case of changing from a combined hormonal contraceptive {combined oral contraceptive (COC), vaginal ring or transdermal patch}
If possible, start taking this drug on the day after taking the last active ingredient tablet (the last tablet containing the active ingredient) of the combined oral contraceptive you have been taking, but at the latest, the usual withdrawal period of the existing combined oral contraceptive or the last placebo tablet You should start taking this medicine the day after taking it. If a vaginal ring or transdermal patch is used, start taking this drug on the day it is removed, if possible, but at the latest, you should start taking this drug on the next expected date of use of these products (gelling or transdermal patch).
If you have been using your previous method of contraception consistently and correctly and it is clear that you are not pregnant, you can switch to this medicine on any day of your cycle.
The withdrawal period from the previous method of contraception should never exceed the recommended period.
3) In case of changing from progestin single agent (tablet, injection, implant) or progestin-free intrauterine contraceptive device (IUS)
You can switch to this medicine on any day while taking the progestin tablet (the day it is removed in the case of an implant or progestin-free intrauterine contraceptive device, or the next scheduled injection date for an injectable product). However, in all these cases, a barrier method of contraception (e.g. condoms) should be used for the first 7 days.
4) After miscarriage within the first 3 months of pregnancy
You can start taking it right away. In such cases, there is no need to use additional contraceptive methods.
5) After delivery or miscarriage between 4 and 6 months of pregnancy
For nursing mothers, refer to Precautions for Use 7. Administration for Pregnancy and Nursing Mothers.
You can start taking it between days 21 and 28 after delivery or miscarriage between the 4th and 6th months of pregnancy. If you start taking it later, you should use a barrier method of contraception for the first 7 days after taking it. However, if sexual intercourse has already occurred, confirm that pregnancy has not occurred and start taking combined oral contraceptives or wait until the first menstrual period.
3. If you forget to take
1) If taking within 12 hours
The contraceptive effect is maintained. Take one tablet as soon as you remember and take the next tablet at the usual time.
2) If 12 hours have passed since the time to take
Since the contraceptive effect may be reduced, follow the instructions below according to the following two principles.
(1) The period of stopping taking tablets should not exceed 7 days.
(2) In order to properly suppress the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian-axis, it must be taken continuously for 7 days.
■ 1 week
Take the last forgotten tablet as soon as you remember. At this time, you can take 2 tablets at the same time. Then take the next tablet at the set time as usual. Barrier contraception, such as condoms, should be used for the first 7 days after taking it. If sexual intercourse has occurred in the previous 7 days, there is a possibility of pregnancy. The greater the number of missed pills and the closer the missed doses are to the normal withdrawal period, the higher the risk of pregnancy.
■ 2 weeks
Take the last forgotten tablet as soon as you remember. At this time, you can take 2 tablets at the same time. Then take the next tablet at the set time as usual. If you have been taking this medicine continuously for 7 days immediately before you forget the first tablet, you do not need to use additional contraceptive methods. However, if this is not the case, or if more than one tablet is missed, additional contraception should be used for the first 7 days after taking it.
■ 3 weeks
As the withdrawal period approaches, the risk of reducing the contraceptive effect is high. However, reducing the contraceptive effect can be prevented by adjusting the tablet dosing schedule according to the following instructions.
If you have been taking this medicine continuously for the 7 days immediately before you forgot to take the first tablet, you do not need to use additional contraceptive methods by choosing one of the following two methods. If not, follow the first of the following two methods and use an additional method of contraception during the first 7 days.
① Take the last forgotten tablet as soon as you remember. At this time, you can take 2 tablets at the same time. Then take the next tablet at the set time as usual. As soon as the current package is finished, the next package should be administered without a washout period. Withdrawal bleeding may not occur until after taking the second pack of tablets, and break or petechial bleeding may occur while taking the tablet.
② Stop taking the medicine from the current package and start taking the medicine from the new package after having a withdrawal period for 7 days, including the day you forgot to take the medicine.
The possibility of pregnancy should be considered if withdrawal bleeding does not occur during the first normal withdrawal period after a missed dose and initiation of an adjusted schedule.
4. Advice in case of gastrointestinal disorders
In case of severe gastrointestinal disturbances, absorption may not be complete, so additional contraceptive measures should be taken.
If vomiting occurs within 3 to 4 hours after taking this medicine, additional medicine must be taken, and the method of taking is in accordance with "3. If you forget to take the medicine". If you want to continue with your normal dosing schedule, the extra pills you need to take are just the extra tablets you need from the new packaging.
5. In case of changing or extending the cycle
To prolong the cycle, take a new package of this medicine in sequence without a washout period. You can extend it for as long as you like until you finish taking the second pack. You may experience breakout or petechial hemorrhage over an extended period of time. Then resume taking the drug normally after a 7-day washout period.
To change the cycle to a day other than the current schedule, the upcoming withdrawal period can be reduced by the desired date. The shorter the washout period, the higher the risk of experiencing breakage and petechiae while taking the second pack without developing withdrawal bleeding (as when extending the cycle).
