2) Usage and dosage

1. Treatment of shingles infection Adults: As famciclovir, administer 250 mg orally 3 times a day for 7 days. It is advisable to start treatment as soon as symptoms appear after infection. 2. Treatment of primary genital herpes infection Adults: 250 mg of this drug is orally administered 3 times a day for 5 days. It is advisable to start treatment as soon as symptoms appear after infection. 3. Treatment of acute recurrent genital herpes infection Adults: 125 mg of this drug is administered orally twice a day for 5 days. It is desirable to start treatment as soon as symptoms appear during the prodromal or post-infectious period. 4. Suppression of recurrent genital herpes Adults: 250 mg of this drug is administered orally twice a day. Treatment is periodically discontinued every 6 to 12 months to observe changes in the natural course of the disease. 5. Patients with renal impairment: Since the creatinine clearance of this drug decreases in patients with renal impairment, care must be taken in dose adjustment. The dosage and dosage for these patients are as follows. 1) Treatment of herpes zoster and primary genital herpes infection: Creatinine clearance (mL/min/1.73m2) Volume 30～59 250 mg each time twice a day 10 to 29 250 mg each once a day 2) Treatment of acute recurrent genital herpes infection: Creatinine clearance (mL/min/1.73m2) Volume 30～59 125 mg each time twice a day 10 to 29 125 mg each once a day 3) Inhibition of recurrent genital herpes infection: Creatinine clearance (mL/min/1.73m2) Volume 30～59 250 mg each time twice a day 10 to 29 125 mg each time twice a day 4) If only serum creatinine is known, the creatinine clearance can be calculated using the following formula. Male: {weight (kg) × (140-age)}/ {72 × serum creatinine (mg/dL)} Women: 0.85 × the value obtained for men 5) Patients with renal impairment undergoing hemodialysis For hemodialysis patients, it is preferable to administer the drug every 48 hours considering the dialysis interval. Hemodialysis for 4 hours reduces the plasma concentration of this drug by approximately 75%, so administer this drug immediately after dialysis. The recommended dose is 250 mg for patients with herpes zoster and 125 mg for patients with genital herpes. 6. Patients with hepatic impairment: For patients with chronic compensated liver disease, no dose adjustment is required. Since there is not enough treatment experience for patients with obvious chronic decompensated liver disease, a clear recommended dose has not been established.
