1) Efficacy, effect

○ Effective bacterial species Streptococcus pneumoniae, Influenza bacillus, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes (group A-beta hemolytic), Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, Klebsiella, Gonococcus ○ Indications - Otitis media - Pneumonia, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis - Pyelonephritis, cystitis, gonococcal urethritis - Swelling, carbuncle, folliculitis, cellulitis, infectious atheroma, subcutaneous abscess, raw hand, wound infection

2) Usage and dosage

○ Adults: 250 mg (potency) is administered orally every 8 hours as Cephalar hydrate. For severe infections (pneumonia, etc.) and infections with low susceptibility, the dosage can be doubled. For acute gonococcal urethritis, administer 3 g of this drug and 1 g of probenecid as a single dose. ○ Children: 20 mg (potency) per kg of body weight per day is administered in divided doses every 8 hours. For severe infections, otitis media, and infections with low susceptibility, 40 mg (potency) per kg of body weight per day can be administered, and the maximum dose is 1 g (titer) per day. ○ Patients with impaired renal function: Can be administered without changing the dose. Treatment of beta-hemolytic streptococcal infection should be administered for at least 10 days.
