2) Usage, dosage
1. Essential hypertension
Adults: As telmisartan, oral administration of 40 mg once daily is recommended, and depending on the patient, 20 mg once daily may be effective. If necessary, the dose can be increased to 80 mg once a day.
This drug has an additional blood pressure lowering effect when administered in combination with thiazide diuretics such as hydrochlorothiazide.
When increasing the dose, the maximum blood pressure lowering effect occurs 4 to 8 weeks after starting treatment.
2. Reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease
Adults: It is recommended to take 80 mg orally once a day. There is no known risk-reducing effect on cardiovascular morbidity and mortality at doses less than 80 mg. When starting treatment with this drug for the purpose of reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, monitoring blood pressure is recommended and appropriate adjustment of antihypertensive medications may be required.
○ Patients with liver impairment
It should be administered with caution to patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment and should not exceed 40 mg once a day.
