Severe acne (nodular, cystic, clotting) that is refractory to other treatments, especially cystic and clotting acne associated with trunk lesions
2) Usage, dosage
Since the therapeutic effect and adverse reactions to this drug are dose-dependent, the dose should be appropriately adjusted according to the patient's symptoms and condition.
○ Initial capacity
As isotretinoin, 0.5 mg per kg of body weight is administered daily while observing the reaction.
○ Maintenance capacity
This drug is administered at a dosage of 0.5 to 1.0 mg per kg of body weight per day, and the dosage can be increased up to 2.0 mg for patients with severe acne.
For low doses, take once a day, and for high doses, take in divided doses twice a day with meals.
A cumulative dose of 120 mg per kg of body weight per treatment course increases the improvement rate of symptoms and lowers the recurrence rate. The treatment period may vary depending on the daily dose, but usually takes 16 to 24 weeks, and symptoms may improve even after discontinuing treatment. Therefore, if symptoms recur, the above treatment process must be repeated, but treatment must be resumed after at least an 8-week withdrawal period.
○ Patients with renal failure: Administration experience is very limited. When administering this drug, adjust the dose starting from 10 mg per day.
○ Patients with intolerance: Continue treatment at a low dose. In this case, the treatment period is extended and the risk of recurrence increases. For these patients, optimal effects can be achieved by continuing treatment at the highest adaptable dose.
